This course provides an overview of all infection control practices and how they apply to the workplace. Infectious diseases, healthcare acquired infections and priorities and practice to prevent the spread of infections whilst protecting staff and others are discussed.
Epilepsy Awareness
What is epilepsy, how it affects lifestyle, seizures, triggers and care and treatment of those individuals living with epilepsy is covered in the course in an interactive workshop. Delegates gain a deeper understanding of this condition and how to apply their knowledge for those in their care or when managing seizures.
Understanding Diabetes
The prevalence of diabetes is increasing amongst our population at alarming rates. Participants gain a greater understanding of type 1 & type 2 diabetes, risk factors, treatment and complications all of which may be applied within the workplace.
Pressure Area Care
Minimising the risks for pressure ulcers developing, how to assess & score risks and managing those who are likely to develop pressure ulcers and sores when they develop is shared in this course. How to stage pressure sores and appropriate safeguarding concerns, documentation and reporting is also covered.

How to embed dignity & respect around 8 dignity factors whilst providing person-centred care is shared is this workshop. This course is aimed at care managers & senior staff, in order to implement a workbook for all staff to complete evidencing dignity & respect based care.
Nutritional Care for Elderly and Special Needs Client
Nutritional issues applied to individual needs, special dietary considerations for particular medical conditions and measuring risk of malnutrition is covered in this interactive workshop. Intimate Personal Care for Vulnerable Adults

Hygiene for Domiciliary Carers
A short workshop, providing a whistle stop refresher of the key hygiene and infection issues faced when caring for individuals in their own home. Best principles for reducing infection risks when providing personal care are shared in a fun interactive way.
Courses Aimed at those providing care
Catheter & Stoma Care
Catheters and a stoma are both openings directly into the body. Understanding risk, how to care for people with catheters and different types of stoma is discussed in this practical workshop.
Emergency First Aid
What to do in a medical emergency when providing care; from spotting a stroke or a heart attack, to managing a cardiac arrest, this workshop explains how to recognise acute medical situations which require emergency action and what to do when the worst situation arises.
Basic Life Support
Managing a cardiac arrest, an unconscious casualty and someone who is choking is covered in this practical session, which follows the Resuscitation Council Uk’s algorithms and guidance for practice.
Applying the Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding
Understanding the law and applying it to practical situations for care are discussed around given scenarios. Delegates who work in care settings should leave this session understanding how to apply the MCA, to balance ‘best interest’ decisions, ‘capacity’ and recognising safeguarding concerns when dealing with diverse people.
